Building Department

The department is managed by building official Todd Herter (THerter@nilestwpmi.gov).  The department’s mission statement “Build Safe =  Live Safe” exemplifies the core values and dedication of the staff to protect the community through the administration and enforcement of various laws, ordinances, codes and standards.

Inspections:

Building inspection requests must be phoned in to 269-687-2741 (no voice mail or email requests will be scheduled).  Trade inspection requests must be phoned in to the respective inspector’s office listed on the permit.

Fee schedule:

Building construction fees (residential and commercial) are here and electrical, plumbing, mechanical fee schedules are on the 2nd page of the applications.
